Platform staples

The tags each platform keeps rewarding

Not trends — these are the durable, culturally native tags that belong to each platform. The generator draws on them when you select a platform.

Instagram

Instagram allows 30 tags. Around 8–15 relevant ones outperform a maxed-out block.

TikTok

Captions are short. Three to six specific tags beat a wall of #fyp.

YouTube

Only the first three tags show above the title. Put your money there.

Facebook

Facebook rewards restraint. Two or three tags read as human, ten read as spam.

#facebookreels #smallbusiness #supportlocal #community

X (Twitter)

One or two tags per post. More reduces reach and looks automated.

LinkedIn

Three to five professional tags. Slang and emoji tags hurt you here.

Pinterest

Pinterest is a search engine. Describe the thing, do not chase trends.

Threads

Threads attaches one topic tag per post. Pick the single most specific one.

An honest note about "trending"

No public API on any of the eight platforms this site covers reports live hashtag volume. Not Instagram, not TikTok, not YouTube. Anything claiming to show you real-time trending tags with exact post counts is showing you scraped data of unknown age, or numbers invented to look authoritative.

What this page shows instead is honest about its sources: the keywords generated most often here, the seasonal anchors relevant to the current month, and the durable staples that have been culturally native to each platform for years. That is genuinely useful, and it is not pretending to be something it is not.

If you want live trend data, the only reliable place is inside the apps themselves — TikTok's Creative Center, Instagram's search suggestions, YouTube's trending tab. Thirty seconds in the app beats any third-party number, including ours. The research workflow guide covers how to do that properly.

FAQ

About trends and timing

Are the trending hashtags on this site live data?

No, and the trending page says so directly. The lists there are editorially maintained patterns — the tag families that consistently carry volume in each niche — not a real-time feed. Anyone claiming a live cross-platform trending feed is overstating what public APIs actually make available.

For genuinely live trends, check the platform's own discovery surface: TikTok's Creative Center, X's trending panel, Pinterest Trends and YouTube's trending tab.

Do hashtags work in Instagram Stories and Reels?

In Reels, tags work much as they do on feed posts, with the caveat that Reels captions are short and a handful of specific tags reads better than a block. In Stories, a tag can add your story to that tag's story reel, but the reach from it is usually small — one relevant tag is plenty.

Is there a limit on how long a hashtag can be?

Platform limits vary but are generous — long tags are technically fine. The practical limit is human: past about twenty characters, a tag becomes hard to read and nobody types it into search. The generator caps tags at twenty-eight characters and favours shorter, readable combinations.
