Cookie policy

Last updated Jul 1, 2026

This site sets no cookies. That is why you were never shown a consent banner — there was nothing to consent to.

What we store on your device

Exactly one thing: your theme preference, saved in your browser's local storage under the key hn-theme, with a value of either dark or light.

Local storage is not a cookie. It is never transmitted to our server, it is not sent with requests, and it cannot be read by any other site. Its only purpose is remembering which theme you picked so the page does not flash the wrong one on your next visit.

What we do not use

  • No analytics cookies — no Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom or anything similar.
  • No advertising or retargeting cookies, and no ad network of any kind.
  • No social media pixels from Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, X or Pinterest.
  • No session cookies, because there are no accounts and no login state.
  • No tag manager, no A/B testing tool, no heatmap or session recording script.

Third-party requests

One external request is made when a page loads: web fonts from Google Fonts. Google may log that request as part of operating its font service, subject to its own privacy terms. No cookie is set on your device by this site as a result. If you would rather avoid it entirely, browser extensions that block third-party font loading will not break the site — it falls back to system fonts cleanly.

Removing the preference

Clear site data for this domain in your browser settings, or use private browsing. The theme will simply revert to the default dark mode on your next visit. Nothing else is affected because nothing else is stored.

If this changes

If we ever introduce anything that genuinely requires consent, we will implement a proper consent mechanism before it loads — not a banner that assumes agreement — and this page will be updated first.
