What the difficulty score is

Every hashtag on this site carries a number between 3 and 99. That number is calculated from the tag's character length, its word count and the intent category it belongs to. It is a relative ranking signal, designed to tell you which of two tags is likely to be harder to compete in.

It is not a measurement of any platform's index, not a post count, not an engagement forecast and not a prediction. The scoring guide publishes the formula in full so you can decide how much weight to give it.

Why we show ranges instead of exact counts

No public API from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest or Threads currently reports live hashtag volume. Any tool displaying a precise figure such as "1,482,993 posts" is showing you scraped data of unknown age, an estimate dressed as a fact, or a number generated for effect.

We show bands instead, and we label them as estimates. A range you can trust is more useful than a precise number you cannot.

No guaranteed results

Hashtags are a classification signal. They help systems and people categorise and find your content. They do not make a post worth watching, they do not override a recommendation algorithm, and no combination of them will rescue content the audience does not want. Anyone promising otherwise is selling a version of social media that stopped existing years ago.

Your results depend on your content, your niche, your audience, your timing and platform behaviour entirely outside our view. Nothing on this site is a promise of reach, followers, engagement or revenue.
