The behavioural shift is well documented: a substantial portion of users under thirty now use TikTok as a first-stop reference tool, ahead of a traditional search engine, for questions about places, products, methods and recommendations.
What search traffic looks like
Feed traffic arrives with no intent and decides in a second. Search traffic arrives with a specific question and will watch a full ninety seconds if you are answering it. The second audience is far more valuable and requires different content.
Writing for queries
Say the question out loud in the first three seconds, put it in on-screen text, and put it in the caption. TikTok transcribes speech and reads on-screen text, so these three reinforce each other. A video that never states its subject in words is invisible to search regardless of quality.
Question-shaped tags
Tags mirroring how someone phrases a query — plain, specific, unglamorous — outperform clever ones here. Nobody searches #vibes. People search for the actual thing.
The long-tail effect
Search-driven videos have a different lifecycle from feed-driven ones. Rather than spiking and dying in 48 hours, they accumulate views slowly for months. A back catalogue of well-labelled answers becomes a compounding asset in a way that trend content never does.
How to find the questions
Your comments are full of them. So is the search bar's autocomplete. Both are free research and neither requires a tool.
